RIP HARBOR GRILL :-( We have lost an incredible restaurant in South OC. Thank you for your many years of spectacular service and fresh, barely salted delicious dinners and delightful cocktails & deserts. A legendary experience comes to a close.

We hit here on happy hour. Right on the marina and a five minute walk from our hotel. We grabbed a couple martinis and ordered the crab cakes. They were delicious! Very nice patio and great atmosphere. We were told that they were going to close on September 2022. This has been a staple in the marina forever. Do if it's on your favorites list better come before they close.

This beloved restaurant is closing at the end of September due to construction on the DP marina. They have a wonderful menu featuring fresh fish daily! Great portion sizes, nice service and great ambiance! If your in the area make a bee-line here!

Drove down to Dana Point yesterday with a friend for lunch and a walk at Salt Creek Beach. The beach turned out to be way too crowded just from looking at the parking lot at the Ritz-Carlton so we moseyed on down to Harbor Grill. The lunch was fairly expensive but absolutely delicious! The crab cakes were perfect. Just what I had been craving and looking for on a mission for the past 6 weeks at various restaurants. The shrimp tacos were also good: two big ones that I shared with my friend. The rice that came with the tacos was also good. I think it was rice pilaf. The guac looked homemade and was tasty. I indulged myself with dessert and selected the key lime pie. This pie was not the usual dense version. Instead it was light and creamy with a "fluffy" texture and absolutely divine with an obviously homemade graham cracker crust. All in all, a meal worthy of the 4 hour drive! I was so sated I didn't need to eat another bite for the rest of the day/evening.

Came here for brunch and enjoyed our food, drinks, and the live music! There was no wait around 10am for brunch which was nice. I was feeling fancy and ordered a martini, but quickly realized that I'm not a martini kind of guy. The Fried Crispy Calamari and Oysters on the Half Shell were good, except for a few bits of oyster shell :/ The Dungeness Crab Louie Salad was loaded with crab! Pan Seared Cajun Blackened Seabass was a little under seasoned for me but overall everything was pretty decent.

What a great find for us first timers here! Located harbor side, it was a short walk from our hotel. So conveniently located! Two mango martinis, warm bread and butter, and an appetizer of their delicious crab cakes was all we had room for. And boy, was it good--all of it! Mango martinis were fruity, but not too sweet. Crusty bread served with salted butter. Crab cakes the best I have ever had! Lots of crab, crispy, served with a mild red roasted pepper sauce. Their entrees on the menu sound really good too! And prices are very reasonable. Too bad we didn't make it back for dinner! Patio seating is dog friendly. Inside is a little dated, but cozy. Sadly, they are closing in September. We will do our best to make it out here again before they close.

We stayed over a Saturday night recently in Dana Point. I researched area Sunday brunch options that were close by. Harbor Grill was a very short walk from our hotel and I was able to make reservations easily on OpenTable. Note that they are presently opening at 10:00 am on Sundays, NOT 9:00 am. Anyway, we arrived about 5 minutes til 10:00 and waited out front while the staff was setting the tables. One of the servers sat us around 09:58:30 and she wound up being visibly berated by what appeared to be the owner lady. How dare she seat us 90 seconds before "opening"! I felt bad for her. Anyway, the restaurant itself is beautiful, clean, comfortable and has nice views of the Dana Point Marina. They seem to cater nicely to the advanced AARP demographic. There was a fairly short but creative looking brunch menu. I ordered the "Eggs Santa Fe". Grilled sausage (split link) on English muffin with two poached eggs, cilantro cream and a side of tequila tomato salsa. It was very good! Eggs poached perfectly with runny yolk and set whites. The cilantro cream was flavorful, and a delightful alternative to a traditional hollandaise sauce. I was concerned about the taters because I'm not really a fan of home fries. These were cubed quite small, cooked to a nice crispy consistency and included peppers and onions. I was impressed. The "bottomless" champagne was interesting. It was not poured into a normal fluted glass but more of a small aperitif glass. I found that odd. Further, I had to cajole the server for refills. I'm definitely interested in coming back here for a dinner service sometime.

Plenty of parking near restaurant at no charge. Once you approach the restaurant their is a hostess to greet you and bring you to your table. Our waitress approached our table shortly afterwards to take our drink order. We ordered appetizers, soup and entrees. Food arrived fresh and hot. Also most importantly waitress brought our food in a timely manner vs bring a dish every 10 minutes. Food was DELICIOUS. All staff are courteous and friendly including our waitress whom provided excellent service. Once you finish your meal you can walk around to the different shops close by. Highly recommend this restaurant.
